Radiotherapy UK stands in solidarity with the cancer patients of Ukraine and our radiotherapy colleagues in Ukraine and surrounding countries, as they live with the horror of war and the resulting humanitarian catastrophe. We stand with members of the radiotherapy community here in the UK who have friends and family directly affected by the conflict.
The situation in Ukraine for cancer patients is dire and is worsening.
The continuous bombing of Ukraine has caused unimaginable damage to an already precarious infrastructure. In addition to the danger of living in a war-zone for patients and clinical teams, key challenges include the lack of data/ medical records, language barriers and lack of resources in surrounding countries to deliver the necessary care.
We call on any members of our radiotherapy community who may be able to help with this disaster in the following ways to contact the Radiotherapy UK team on info@radiotherapy.org.uk and we will endeavor to co-ordinate your skills with the appropriate avenues of support.
- Have information, data, or experience of the Radiotherapy situation in Ukraine or surrounding countries
- Speak an Eastern European language
- Part of a relevant communication network or organisation
