We hope you’ll agree that there’s never been a more important time to make the case for a dedicated cancer control plan, backed by intelligent investment in cancer treatment, to tackle the ongoing serious problems in cancer care. That’s why we are aiming to do something ‘big’ to mark World Cancer Day 2024. But we need your help to make as big an impact as possible. The more people that feel able to help in some or all of the ways we set out below, the greater our chance of being heard by Government.
What are we doing, and how can you help?
We’re inviting representatives from a huge range of cancer charities and other interested groups and individuals to come together at Parliament in a mass show of support for the call for a new dedicated cancer control plan, backed up by the investment needed to deliver it. We want to show that the vast majority of the cancer workforce and charities are united in the need for urgent action.
As well as unfurling a giant banner as part of a series of actions to attract media attention, we’ll be taking to dozens of MPs, pressing on them the need for urgent action. The event will take place on Wednesday 31st January 2024 when Parliament is sitting, rather than on World Cancer Day itself which falls on Sunday 4 February.
Join us
if you are able to come along we’d love to see you there – just get in touch using the button below to let us know you’re interested in coming and we’ll send over further details. It should be a fascinating day as we’ll be using an ancient right that all citizens have, to actually go into Parliament and meet MPs. But don’t worry if that sounds a bit daunting. Our team will be there to support and guide at every stage.
Other ways to support
However, we know that most of you won’t be able to physically attend on the day due to commitments, travel, and other pressures. If you still want to support the event please take a few minutes to see how you can easily do this below.
For those who want to support but can’t physically come along, we’ve put together a range of ways you can help. And they’re quick and easy too.
- Use this link to invite your local MP – this takes just a few seconds and helps you send a message to your MP urging him to meet with us at the event Radiotherapy 4 Life
- On the day, please look at our social media channels – Linkedin and X – and share using the hashtag #CatchUpWithCancer
As ever, thanks so much for the tremendous work you all do. And please help us by coming along on the day or by doing any or all of the other supportive actions above. Every attendance or supportive action on the day makes it harder for the Government to ignore our call for action.
