A woman left in pain after radiotherapy for anal cancer has shared her story to #BreakTheSilence.

Trish Prosser joined Ulster Radio this morning for an interview about her diagnosis, treatment and late effects ahead of Anal Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday (March 21st).

As a supporter of a new landmark awareness event to be held in Northern Ireland this weekend, Radiotherapy UK would like to thank Trish and Ulster Radio for this important conversation.

About Anal Cancer Awareness Day

Breaking the Silence on Anal Cancer, a landmark awareness event is taking place in Northern Ireland on Saturday 21st March 2026, in recognition of Anal Cancer Awareness Day.
This will be a groundbreaking first event of its kind in Northern Ireland and is a joint endeavour between the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust Lower GI Clinical Oncology team, Rad Chat, OUTpatients UK, Bottom Line Anal Cancer Charity, Radiotherapy UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. It will be one of the very few multi-stakeholder events anywhere in the world focused entirely on anal cancer awareness, survivorship and care.
