Support David Smith MBE with Miles for Dave

David Smith MBE holds a British flag up behind him with arms spread wideTHE close friend of inspirational athlete David Smith MBE has organised a May bank holiday challenge – Miles for Dave – to support David and his family.

Ed Jackson has started a GoFundMe for David, who is currently in hospital having palliative care.

On his Linkedin account, Ed writes: “Dave has been fighting for a very long time. A rare spinal tumour first found in 2010. Multiple recurrences. Major surgeries. Paralysis. Through all of it, he kept showing up, kept training, kept lifting other people up, and kept finding ways to live a life most of us would struggle to imagine.

“Now he’s facing the hardest fight yet. Dave is in hospital, and was recently told he has around four months to live. In true Dave fashion, he is meeting it with everything he has.

“The funds raised will go towards his treatment, access to potential trial options, and the wider costs of a situation like this, so that he and his family have as much support as possible through something nobody should have to navigate.”

While David is in hospital, Ed is urging people to rally around and get active in solidarity.

There are three ways to help:

David is a Nike athlete, radiotherapy advocate and much-loved Patron for Radiotherapy UK.  We wish him all the best and will certainly be joining in with Miles for Dave.
