Rose mixes 10k with a tasty treat 🍨

Ambassador Rose Ting found herself running for ice cream and radiotherapy awareness last week, with a Free Ice Cream run on one of the hottest days in London!

Rose said:

“We often talk about how we can improve the experience of patients undergoing radiotherapy. One simple thing we can all do is raise awareness and understanding of radiotherapy, because better understanding can lead to better conversations, better support, and ultimately, a better patient experience. Sometimes raising awareness can be serious… and sometimes it can involve running for ice cream!”

Kerry’s zip wire and James walks to Mount Doom – more special mentions

But Rose is not the only one getting creative! We have had some brilliant activities logged this week!

  • Louis has been training hard in the gym and getting results, while Peter has set up his outdoor gym for the summer, and Suzi danced a whole lot of miles at Brighton Pride.
  • Kerry and her family took on a zip wire challenge at Llangranog with orange headgear in tribute to the challenge – rather you than us Kerry, that looked high!
  • Reuben bounced through a woodland assault course with mum, El; and Sisa has been enjoying walking her daughter to and from nursery.
  • Meanwhile, James spent a whole day on his walking pad watching the extended edition Lord of the Rings Trilogy – an ingenious way to take part in one of the best loved adventures of all time from home!
  • Jo has been enjoying long walks with her dog Teddy, and Abi and her 14-year-old Doodle have been walking and swimming amongst the tors of Dartmoor.
  • Sarah shared some beautiful golden beach walks from a holiday on the Isle of Lewis, Kate took her challenge to Pompeii, and Gary blended volunteering at Parkrun with a trip for gelato – keeping that all important balance.
  • Mafalda gave her all at Parkrun and needed a lie down afterwards, and Fei shared some beautiful plant life spotted during her activities.
  • Priyesh set a PB for his 23km run, with a brilliant sunrise as a reward; and Michelle paddle boarded off to the pub with some help from her daughter.
  • Thomas has been doing a combo of triathlons and long walks around Italy; and we think Sarah is winning the consistency prize with a host of 5k runs!

Our fabulous sponsors! 🔥

Headline Ultra sponsor Xiel’s CEO Mark O’Herlihy said:

“We are excited to be headline sponsors for Miles4Radiotherapy again for two reasons; firstly, this is a brilliant challenge supporting a small charity that creates high-quality resources for people going through radiotherapy; and secondly, it’s simply a fun way to have a great summer.”

Sprint sponsor OIS – Oncology Imaging Systems’ CEO Steve Imber said:

“Miles4Radiotherapy is a fun and beneficial way of highlighting the great work of everybody associated with this vital part of cancer treatment.”
