Miles4Radiotherapy week two – 37,000 miles and counting!

Hello Milers!

Firstly, a huge well done to everyone who has already been out earning miles! Whether you’ve logged one activity or ten, every mile counts. In just over two weeks we’ve clocked up more than 37,000 miles. That’s 18% of the challenge completed already!

Follow us on Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram for challenge updates.

If you’ve had a brilliant start, keep that momentum going. If life got in the way and you haven’t started yet, don’t worry; there’s still plenty of time to get involved. This challenge is all about taking part at your own pace, so every step, stride, pedal or push makes a difference.

This week, why not set yourself a mini goal?

  • Try one extra walk or run.
  • Explore a new route.
  • Invite a friend, family member or colleague to join you.
  • Beat last week’s total by just one mile.

Remember to keep logging your miles in the app so you can track your progress and watch our team total grow. Every contribution matters.

Thank you for being part of this amazing challenge. Your enthusiasm, encouragement and commitment are what make this community so special.

Have a fantastic Week 2; let’s keep those miles rolling!

Our fabulous sponsors! 🔥

Headline Ultra sponsor Xiel’s CEO Mark O’Herlihy said:

“We are excited to be headline sponsors for Miles4Radiotherapy again for two reasons; firstly, this is a brilliant challenge supporting a small charity that creates high-quality resources for people going through radiotherapy; and secondly, it’s simply a fun way to have a great summer.”

Sprint sponsor OIS – Oncology Imaging Systems’ CEO Steve Imber said:

“Miles4Radiotherapy is a fun and beneficial way of highlighting the great work of everybody associated with this vital part of cancer treatment.”

A big thank you too to our media partners, Rad Chat.

Special mentions; and the most creative mile yet? 🦢

  • Has Salma scooped the most inventive mile? At the weekend she took to the lake in a pedalo!
  • Priyesh has been fitting in early morning runs around Bradgate Park.
  • Jane walked the York City Walls, while CJ enjoyed being a tourist in London.
  • Martin is currently cycling around Ireland to add miles for Elekta.
  • Rose visited the site of an official attempt at the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps; and suggested we try it with our orange caps!
  • Kirstie asked for running playlist recommendations. Send us your favourite tunes and we’ll create a shared participant playlist.

Say cheese! 📷

Meet the team 💯

This year’s challenge has seen Elekta field one of our biggest teams, with plenty of group runs along the way. Over the past three years, Andrew Harrold, David Veale and Patrick Moody have run a Couch to 5K programme for colleagues; which certainly explains why there are so many keen runners!

Want your team featured? We’d love to hear from you. Contact us for a shout out (here).

Warmest wishes,

Team Radiotherapy UK
