Chair of Radiotherapy UK and leading oncologist, Professor Pat Price, spoke to the Times Radio breakfast show last week.
Following the heartbreaking story of Jon – a 34-year-old with incurable bowel cancer – Professor Price has continued to urge the government to #CatchUpWithCancer, get a national cancer plan in place and improve huge wait times in the cancer treatment pathway.

Pre-pandemic, the UK already had a poor record for cancer survival rates, and the latest NHS quarterly data posted the worst waiting times for cancer patient treatment in its history.
Professor Price said: “This is not just about semantics or dry statistics.
“This really matters to cancer patients as every 4-week delay in treatment can increase the risk of death by around 10%.”
