Chris runs #Miles4Radiotherapy driven by personal cause

Today we’d like to share some real inspiration from Chris, our top #Miles4Radiotherapy fundraiser.

He has already smashed his £1,000 fundraising target and his aim is to run the equivalent of 10 marathons over the summer challenge. So far, he has clocked up a brilliant 68 miles.

Chris explained why he is fundraising to push for vital cancer treatment: “When my wife, Jenny, was heavily pregnant with our first child, she was diagnosed with tongue cancer after a routine trip to the dentist. Our daughter was born and Jenny went into surgery and then had six weeks of radiotherapy treatment.

“It was a strange, numb time and my brain just took over. Our daughter was our little blessing. Jenny had to get better for her. Our daughter’s middle name is Faith, because we needed so much of it to get through it.”

Jenny now works in therapeutic radiotherapy, after retraining following her recovery.

Chris said: “It was Jenny who told me about the challenge and I’ve done a bit of running. I do enjoy it and it’s good for me mentally and to get the endorphins going. I’m getting up at 5am so I can get some miles in before our children wake up!
